The NoCry Clear Safety Glasses are a no-fuss, sub-$15 eye protection pick that actually stays on your face while you're hauling junk out of a river.
I didn't think much about eye protection until a rusted bolt flew off a chunk of scrap metal I was prying apart on a riverbank. Nothing hit me. But it was close enough that I went home and ordered these the same night.
Thirteen bucks. That's it. For something that keeps metal fragments and mystery river splatter out of your eyes, that feels like a pretty easy call.
I've been reaching for these more than I expected to — not just on sketchy pulls, but any time I'm breaking stuff apart or cleaning finds in the driveway.
The thing that got me was the weight. Or the lack of it. I opened the package expecting something that felt like a cheap party favor, and these just... didn't. They're light, but not flimsy-light. There's a difference and I think you know what I mean.
The anti-fog coating is real. I've had safety glasses fog up on me during a winter session — cold air, warm face, useless lenses — and these held up. I was out on the Schuylkill in early March, temperature sitting somewhere in the low 40s, pulling up what turned out to be a corroded iron pipe that decided to shed rust flakes in every direction when I dropped it on the bridge rail. Glasses stayed clear the whole time. I didn't have to yank them off and wipe them down even once.
That actually matters more than it sounds like it does.
The wraparound design is why I kept reaching for these instead of my old pair. My old ones were basically just flat lenses with arms — looked fine, protected almost nothing from the sides. These actually cover the angle where splatter comes from when you're rinsing a find off with a water bottle or hammering at a corroded padlock trying to figure out if there's anything inside. Spoiler: there usually isn't. But I'm going to keep doing it.
Fit is mostly good. I've got a pretty average-sized head and they sit right without any adjustment. My buddy tried them on and the temples were a little snug for him — he's got a bigger head, no offense — but the adjustable temples helped enough that he wore them for the rest of the session without complaining. He complains about everything, so I count that as a win.
They're not prescription-compatible if that matters to you.
The nose piece is soft and doesn't dig in. I've worn these for a couple of hours on longer outings — processing a pile of finds on the tailgate, that kind of thing — and I didn't get that pressure headache you sometimes get from safety glasses that grip too hard. Small thing. Appreciated.
They scratch. I'll say that plainly. I've gotten a few light surface scratches from setting them down on rough concrete. Not enough to affect visibility, but if you're the type to toss your gear into a bag without thinking, get a soft pouch or something. Or just buy two pairs — at this price you can do that without it being a whole thing.
These are a genuinely good call for anyone just getting started who maybe hasn't thought about eye protection yet. But I'd also say they've replaced a pair I paid more for, so it's not just a beginner thing. They're cheap enough that keeping a spare in your kit bag makes total sense.
